Construction Accident Injures 1 in San Antonio

According to Fox 29, a construction worker was injured in a construction accident in Northwest San Antonio.

About the Construction San Antonio

The 45-year-old man was operating a road paver when it began to slide. He attempted to jump down and stop it, but he ended up pinned between the road paver and another vehicle.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Tezel Road and Timber Path around 10:30 am last Wednesday.

The worker suffered a compound fracture to his leg, and the accident is under further investigation.

Construction Accident Statistics

According to the Occupational Hazard and Safety Administration (OSHA), over 20% of all private worker fatalities occur in the construction field, accounting for 899 deaths in 2014 along.

OSHA considers the four leading causes of death at construction sites the “fatal four,” which includes falls, followed by electrocution, struck by object, and caught-in/between. The “fatal four” are responsible for over half of all construction worker deaths.

Eliminating the “fatal four” would save over 518 lives every year.
