Contours Tandem Strollers Recalled

Baisha Kreuzer4 years ago

Kolcraft Enterprises Inc. of Chicago, Ill., in cooperation with the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a voluntary recall on Contours Tandem Strollers. Anyone who has purchased this item is encouraged to stop using this product unless otherwise informed.

About the Product Recall

The front wheel attachment has a high potential of breaking, causing a possible fall hazard to the child using the stroller. Also, the specific units that were manufactured between January and February of 2012 contain screws that support the stroller’s basket and can easily be detached, posing a choking hazard. No injuries have been reported thus far, but Kolcraft has received six reports of the front wheels breaking and two reports of the screws holding the basket detaching. Consumers are highly encouraged by the CPSC to stop using the product and contact the company to receive replacement wheels. Also, any consumer who obtained this product between January and February 2012 will receive replacement screws for the basket support.

Description of the Strollers

The stroller is designed with two color choices to select from: red canopies with black accents or yellow canopies with grey accents. Underneath the dual-seat is a mesh basket attached to the stroller used for storage and “Options LT” is printed on a bar along the side. Instructions of where to locate the label containing the model number can be found on the CPSC website.

About 5,600 units were sold at Burlington Coat Factory and juvenile product specialty stores all over the nation, as well as online retailers such as Amazon.com, Target.com and others. These strollers were sold between February 2012 and July 2012 for about $250.
