Corpus Christi Hit and Run Victim Urges Driver to Take Responsibility

Though still in pain, Corpus Christi resident Joshua Newton is out of the hospital after being hit by a white SUV while running on Ocean Dr. He is now urging that the driver take responsibility and turn himself in.

Corpus Christi Runner Recalls the Hit and Run

“The only thing I remember form the entire thing was hearing the guy hit the gas. Was the acceleration of the engine as I was passing over his hood.” – Joshua Newton told KRIS-TV.

  • Joshua Newton, 34, was running on Ocean Dr., training for the New York Marathon when the incident occured.
  • Mr. Newton stated that hearing the car speed up before hitting him is what scared him most about the accident.
  • As a result of the collision, Mr. Newton suffered a dislocated shoulder and a torn ACL.
  • Mr. Newton is out of the hospital, but is still in severe pain.
