Corpus Christi Officer Struck While Directing Traffic

Corpus Christi authorities are investigating an incident in which an officer was struck by a car while directing traffic following a power outage.

About the Corpus Christi Accident

According to KRIS, the officer was directing traffic at the intersection of South Padre Island Driver and Waldron around 7:15 pm Monday when he was struck by a vehicle.

Preliminary reports indicate a small car t-boned a pickup truck at the intersection. One of the vehicles then struck the officer.

Police did not indicate who was at fault for the initial collision but did state that alcohol is not considered a contributing factor at this time.

The officer suffered back and leg injuries and was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital – his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A female occupant was also transported to the hospital.
