Crane Driver Hit By Commercial Truck

Adam Bitner4 years ago

A fatal accident in October involving a commercial truck occurred in Atascosa County just south of the city of Jourdanton. The driver of the truck failed to yield at a stop sign on FM 140 while attempting to cross Texas Highway 16.

Crane Driver Dead, Truck Driver Injured

The crane driver was attempting to cross the highway, headed westbound, while the northbound commercial truck failed to give the crane driver the right-of-way and struck the large vehicle on the side. The impact of the truck killed the crane driver and left both vehicles blocking the highway. Crews took several hours to clear the wreckage, due to the size of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Truck Accident Caused Roadway to Shut Down

  • While the crews cleared the wreckage, police were forced to shut down the highway for several hours.
  • The truck driver was evacuated to South Texas Regional Hospital and was listed in fair condition.
