A cruise boat crashed into a pier in the San Diego Harbor and injured seven people.

Details about the Cruise Boat Accident

Multiple sources are reporting that a cruise boat crashed into a pier while docking in the San Diego harbor on Thursday. A total of seven people were injured and the collision caused significant damage to the bow of the vessel as well as the busy waterfront walkway, according to San Diego fire officials.

Out of the seven of them who were injured, three of them were taken to area hospitals, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. None of the injuries are reported to have been life-threatening.

The collision was caused by a mechanical malfunction that apparently caused a gear to stick and prevent the 150-foot-long Adventure Hornblower from stopping when it was attempting to dock at the Embarcadero tourism area in San Diego. The accident happened at about 1 p.m.

There were a total of 144 people on the vessel at the time of the accident.
