Curtis Grisham Killed in California Industrial Accident
An Arizona resident was killed Saturday in a fatal industrial accident at the World Ag Expo – the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation.
About the Fatal Industrial Accident
According to reports, Curtis Grisham, 43, was riding in a trailer when the trailer hit a bump, causing him to fall.
It appears Grisham became pinned after the fall and sustained fatal injuries; a coroner’s report is still pending.
OSHA has been called in to investigate the accident. Should investigators determine that labor codes were violated during Grisham’s death, his employers could face fines up to $70,000.
Workplace Injury Statistics
- According to OSHA, 4,383 workers were killed on the job in 2012. This is equivalent to 12 deaths a day.
- Construction accidents accounted for nearly 20 percent of these deaths with 775 work related fatalities.
- Most common causes of death among construction workers and industrial workers were falls, struck by object, electrocutions and caught-in/between.
