Day Care Teacher to Face Child Abuse Charges
On Monday July 13th, it was released that a day care teacher in Jackson County, North Carolina will be facing child abuse charges.
About the Day Care Teacher and Child Abuse Accusations
According to ABC News 13, the day care teacher’s name is Sarah Simmons Dodge, 44, and she is charged with misdemeanor child abuse and assault on a child under the age of 12.
The arrest warrant stated that Dodge dragged a 3-year-old boy across a carpeted floor and slid him by the arm toward a wall for a length of close to 16 feet. It also mentioned that she sat him on the floor in a hard manner twice.
Discovery and Response to the Child Abuse
This occurred at Pam’s Child Development Center around two weeks ago, after discovering what occurred the owner, Pam Ashe, reportedly fired Dodge within 30 minutes. A video camera captured the incident.
Pam Ashe alerted the police and is quoted saying, “Never once did I think I would see it substantiated in my child care center, but I did the right thing. I stood up for that child”.
Parents support Ashe in her decision to report Dodge such as parent Chad Kindy who said, “ She handled everything the best you can. I put full trust in Pam”.
As of right now the parents of the victim have kept their son enrolled at Pam’s, and Dodge has her first court appearance in the beginning of August.
