Delaware Man Injured After Rear-Ending Garbage Truck

A recent report from The News Journal says a 63-year-old man was injured on Tuesday afternoon when he rear-ended a garbage truck stopped at a red light. The man’s condition and details of his injuries have not been released.

Newport, DE police say the accident happened around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday on the Del. 141 northbound off-ramp at Market Street. The unidentified driver of a pickup truck told police he was exiting the ramp when his brakes failed, causing him to rear-end a Waste Management garbage truck stopped at a red light.

The driver was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities say the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
