Deputy Constable Killed in Panola Co. Collision

The Panola County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office has announced that a deputy constable was killed in an off-duty auto accident Wednesday morning.

KETK reports that Deputy Constable Byron McMillen, 63, died in an auto accident around 7:00 am Wednesday morning.

McMillen was traveling along Highway 79 near Fair Play, Texas, between Henderson and Carthage, when the fatal accident occurred.

During his time in Panola County, McMillen worked with precincts 1 and 4. He previously worked as a reserve deputy for the PCSO between 1984 and 2012 before retiring as a captain and becoming a deputy constable.

Details concerning the accident have not been released.
