Details Emerge in Florida Daycare Abuse Case
More details are emerging in a sexual abuse case involving a Florida day care center and a group home for adults with developmental disabilities. A 40-year-old daycare employee (who also serves as a youth pastor) has been accused of sexual battery against children and lewd and lascivious acts on an elderly or disabled person.
Employee Abused Children, Adults with Disabilities
- Kenneth Mar Hagins is accused of sexually abusing four children at Pat’s Kidz World (a daycare facility) and three disabled adults at Sunrise Arc (a group home).
- Police are investigating both facilities in an attempt to identify other victims.
- New reports allege that Hagins asked a young boy to engage in oral sex with him and that Hagins performed oral sex at least twice on an adult male with developmental disabilities.
- Pat’s Kidz World Development Center shut down voluntarily to avoid having its license revoked by the state of Florida.
Owner May Have Known of Abuse, Failed to Report It
The Department of Children and Families (DCF) has speculated that the owner of the day care facility may have known about the abuse but failed to tell authorities; they have indicated in interviews that previous claims of abuse may have gone unreported to officials in the past. Failing to report knowledge of abuse is a felony. The investigation is still ongoing.
