Driver Killed in Fiery Jones Co. Crash Identified

On Thursday afternoon, the identity of the young man killed after a fiery crash in Jones County was released to the public.

About the Jones County Accident

According to reports, the victim has been named as Levi Edward Miller, 24, of Hawley. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the fatal crash on FM 707 east of Hawley near CR 1812 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety reports.

The details of the DPS crash report reveal that Miller was traveling south down FM 707 when he crashed into an eighteen-wheeler traveling north in the opposite lane. As a result of this, his vehicle caught fire upon impact.

The other driver involved in the incident was not injured. DPS claims that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time.

    • 1 person was killed in an auto accident every 2 hours and 29 minutes.
    • 1 person was injured every 2 minutes and 13 seconds.
    • A reportable crash occurred every 66 seconds.
  • An additional 237,941 people were injured in auto accidents in 2014.
