Driver Sentenced To 5 Years After Fatal Accident

According to the San Antonio Express News, 22-year-old Anthony Layton of San Antonio, Texas was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in a fatal accident on Broadway St. in 2013.

About the fatal Accident

In July 2013, Layton had been drinking at the Broadway Bar with his friend, Joshua Cavazos. After leaving the bar, Layton lost control of his 2008 Toyota Camry before hitting a utility pole, crashing through a fence, and slamming into a water main.

Layton said that a car hit his Camry from behind, but police have not seen any evidence that this is true. 

Layton lived, but Cavazos died on the scene due to severe head trauma. Layton pleaded down to 5 years in prison instead of 20 years.
