Drunk Driver Convicted for Dead Austin, Texas Accident

Accordng to the Star Tribune, Jason D. Fredrickson, 45, of Elkton, Minnesota was found guilty Wednesday night on four counts of vehicular homicide by jurors in the Mower County District Court. Fredrickson was chraged with killing two of his friends while driving drunk in an accident that occurred nearly two years ago in Austin, Texas.

Information About the Accident

On the night of the incident, February 25, 2012, Fredrickson and his friends Jake Moe, 32, and Luke Unverzagt, 32, had been drinking for hours. They started drinking at Unverzagt's home and continued at an Austin bar – Fredrickson was said to have had at least six to eight mixed drinks over the course of the night.

Upon returning home, authorities believe Fredrickson lost control of his Cadillac STS, veered into a ditch and went airborne. The vehicle then knocked over a utility pole, struck a tree and then another utility pole. A State Police reconstruction of the crash estimated that Fredrickson's vehicle was traveling in excess of 120 miles per hour leading up to the accident..

Unverzagt and Moe were both thrown from the vehicle and died from their injuries. Fredrickson was partly ejected and suffered a broken ankle.

Fredrickson’s blood alcohol content was measured at 0.126 percent, well above the legal limit.

Fredrickson's driving record in Minnesota includes seven speeding tickets in a 10-year span and a conviction for leaving the scene of an accident.
