Drunk Driver Hits Woman in Wheelchair

A drunk driver has been arrested in Dallas after hitting a woman in a motorized wheelchair as she attempted to cross the street.

About the Drunk Driving Accident

According to the Dallas News, Pete Adames, 55, has been charged with intoxication assault after hitting a woman who was traveling in a motorized wheelchair Friday evening.

The woman was traveling north along Ferguson Road in East Dallas when she was struck by Adames who was making a right turn out of the Spanish Hills Apartment Complex.

Upon being hit, the woman was pushed about 170 feet – Adames claimed that he had not seen the woman.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers noted that Adames’ speech was slurred and that his breath smelled of alcohol. Police also saw a 16-ounce of Natural Light can in the man’s car with condensation on it. Adames was arrested at the scene.

The woman was transported to an area hospital with severe bruising to her right side, back and legs.
