Drunken Motorist Kills EMU Student

An East Michigan University student was killed Sunday after her car was struck by a suspected drunk driver.

About the Motor Vehicle Accident

According to WXYZ, 21-year-old Chelsey Northrup was driving southbound along Parker Road in Freedom Township when her vehicle was struck head-on by a suspected drunk driver.

Police say that 36-year-old Garrett Roe was possibly drunk and may have been drinking when he crossed over the median and hit Northrup’s car.

Roe was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries while Northrup died at the scene.

Northrup was a hopeful EMU student who intended on applying to nursing school before her life was cut short.
