DUI Accident Kills One, Sends Another to the Hospital

One woman was killed and two others were hospitalized after a wrong-way accident in San Antonio.

FOX News San Antonio is reporting that a woman was killed and two others were sent to the hospital to be treated for their injuries after an accident involving a wrong-way driver that happened on Saturday evening.

According to police, the accident happened just before midnight on Saturday evening near W. Military and Chinook.

Police further stated that a vehicle was heading in the wrong direction on W. Military when they collided head-on into another on-coming vehicle. 50-year-old Lisa Simms, and another man in her vehicle were taken to University Hospital. Simms was later pronounced dead from her injuries, and, at this time, there is no word on the condition of the male driver of the vehicle.

Police say that the wrong-way driver was heavily intoxicated and could possibly face at least two accounts of intoxication assault. Should the other man die, those charges will be elevated to intoxication manslaughter.
