Destiny Baker2 years ago

Texas City authorities have arrested 76-year-old Rene Sanchez Sanchez in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that left a bicyclist dead.

Authorities: Bicyclist Dragged a City Block

Preliminary reports by law enforcement suggest 49-year-old Richard Alan Reazin Jr. was dragged a full city block by Sanchez’s red 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup after being struck at the intersection of Second Avenue South and 35th Street around 6 pm Friday.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Sanchez was subject to a stop sign, but it is unclear whether he stopped before entering the intersection. Reazin did not have a stop sign.

Sanchez continued to drive with Reazin and Reazin’s bicycle stuck to the front of his pickup before both Reazin’s body and bicycle were either removed or fell off from the front of the pickup in the parking lot of a Texas City Bar.

Sanchez left the scene, but police were able to identify his truck based on video evidence. Sanchez has since been arrested and is being held at the Texas City Jail with a $50,000 bail. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
