Elderly Man Killed in Collision with 18-Wheeler

A man was killed in an accident involving a car and a semi-truck.

Details about the Semi-Truck Accident

CBS Local Detroit News is reporting that police and emergency crews were still on the scene of a fatal accident that happened in the Clinton Township that involved two vehicles.

According to police from Clinton Township, an elderly man in his 90s was heading west on 19 Mile Road just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday when his vehicle rolled through a red light at the Garfield Road intersection. When he rolled through the intersection, his vehicle collided with a semi-truck that was heading north on Garfield.

A police captain with the department indicated that the car hit the semi-truck right in the middle of the vehicle, and then went underneath the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the car was killed on impact and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the truck was not injured.

At this time the cause of the accident is unknown and it is not clear whether or not the man experienced a medical emergency prior to the accident.
