Electric Blower Vacuums Recalled Due to Risk of Fire and Burns

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Homelite is recalling 864,000 electric blower vacuums due to risk of fire and burns.

About the Electic Blower Vacuum Recall

The vacuums can potentially overheat and spark, which can cause a fire and create a risk of burns to the user.

There have been 1,369 reports of the blower vacuum sparking or smoking, which included one report of a minor injury.

The product was sold at Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlets as well as from January 2010 to March 2015 for $40.

Consumers are advised to stop using the blower vacuums and to return them for a full refund.

Description of the Recalled Blower Vacuums

  • The product was previously recalled in the United States and Canada in February 2013.
  • The product is a red and black 12 amp electric blower vacuum.
  • The model numbers are UT42120, UT42120A and UT42121 and can be found on a label on the left side of the red motor.
  • “Homelite BlowerVac 2 Speed Powerful 220 MPH” is printed on the side of the motor and again on the black plastic blower tube.
