Escondido Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Elderly Driver

An Escondido man was hit and killed by a elderly motorist on Saturday evening, according to police.

Details about the Pedestrian Accident

CBS 8 News is reporting that a pedestrian in Escondido was hit and killed by a vehicle that was being driven by an 86-year-old motorist on Saturday evening.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the man stayed at the scene of the accident. At this time in the investigation, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident. It is also not immediately known whether or not the driver was cited.

The motorist was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla when she hit the 18-year-old pedestrian while she was heading north on San Pasquel Valley Road just south of Oak Hill Drive, according to police Lieutenant Mike Kearny.

Police were sent to the scene at about 8:50 p.m., and attempted life-saving measures on the pedestrian who was suffering from major injuries to the head. The 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Kearny said.
