Explosion at Texas Water Facility Kills 1 Man

Authorities are investigating a fatal accident at a Texas facility which left one man dead.

Details of the Fatal Accident

KWTX reports worker died in a fiery explosion while mixing chemicals at a water treatment facility at a West Texas oil and gas services company.

According to Midland County Fire Marshal, Dale Little, the cause of the explosion remains under investigation. 

Little states officials are looking into whether or not a chemical reaction or a spark caused Monday’s accident.

The victim, Julian Gallardo, 23, was found in the charred structure at the Water Rescue Services site.

  • 4,679 workers were killed on the job in 2014 – averaging to nearly 90 deaths a week or more than 13 deaths each day.
  • 4,251 of those deaths occurred in the private industry, and 874 fatalities were associated with construction accidents.
  • Among the leading causes of work-related deaths were:
    • Falls
    • Electrocutions
    • Struck-by-object
    • Caugh-in/between
