Fall Hazard From Beds Breaking
The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) and Health Canada, in cooperation with Samuel Lawrence, have announced a voluntary recall of Full- and Twin-size Bordeaux Collection Sleigh Beds.
The Sleigh Bed Recall
This recall concerns the Full- and Twin-size beds, of which 2,400 have been recalled in the U.S., and 100 in Canada. However, this is not the first recall of Samuel Lawrence Sleigh Beds. In June, there were 18,400 King and Queen-size beds recalled in the U.S., and 1,250 in Canada. According to the CPSC, the hardware holding the headboard and footboard can loosen and detach, posing a fall hazard. The CPSC recommends that consumers stop using the beds immediately and call Samuel Lawrence to obtain a free repair kit.
Incidents and Injuries
So far, there have been over 100 reports of headboards and footboards detaching, including one injury by a Florida man who injured his foot when the footboard detached.
Description of the Sleigh Beds
- This recall includes Bordeaux Collection full- and twin-size sleigh beds with wooden headboards and footboards in a cherry finish. Each bed also has two matching wooden side rails.
- Bordeaux and a model number are printed on a white label on the back of the headboard and footboard. Model numbers for the recalled beds are 8070-242 and 8070-243 for the full-size and 8070-232 and 8070-233 for the twin-size.
