Family Dollar Stores Recall Holiday Lights
The U.S. CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission), in cooperation with Family Dollar Services, Inc., announced a voluntary recall of the product “200 Mini Lights.”
About the Decorative Lights Recall
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the 200 Mini Lights set does not meet the UL (Underwriters Laboratories) requirements for product safety. The UL, an independent organization, makes one of its purposes to help bring safe, high-performance lighting to the market.
Incidents and Recommendations
Although there have been no reported fires or injuries at this time, there have been at least 3 reported incidents of the lights overheating. Be aware if you or a friend or family member has purchased any holiday lights at a Family Dollar store from September 2011 through December 2011. If you or someone you know has purchased this particular 200 Mini Lights set, the CPSC recommends to immediately stop using the lights and return the product to a Family Dollar store for a full refund.
