Tyler Kirchoff4 years ago

The parents of a 17-year-old Tennessee high school student who was killed by an intoxicated driver in 2010 were recently awarded $1.2 million by a Claiborne County jury.

Driver Had Meth in Her System

  • According to reports, the high school student died in June 2010 when his vehicle was hit head-on by an F-250 pickup truck.
  • The at-fault driver had methamphetamines and other drugs in her system at the time of the accident- she is currently serving a 9-year prison sentence for vehicular homicide by intoxication.
  • The victim’s parents filed a lawsuit against the driver’s parents (who lent her the vehicle), claiming they knew or should have known their daughter was a danger because of her habitual drug use and prior accidents.
  • The jury returned a $1.2 million dollar verdict after a three-day trial.
