Famous South Texas Sculptor Dies in Car Crash

According to San Antonio Express-News, famous artist Jesús Moroles was killed in a motor vehicle accident just north of Georgetown, Texas.

The 64-year-old sculptor was driving on Interstate 35 when the fatal crash occurred.

  • His largest piece was the “Houston Police Officers Memorial”, which measured 120 feet by 120 feet

  • Moroles was named the Texas State Artist in 2011 for his three-dimensional work
  • Moroles was involved in over 330 exhibitions over the course of his 35 year career
