Fat Boy Brand Cucumber Contaminated
Earlier this month the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suspected Andrew and Williamson cucumbers were contaminated with salmonella. On Wednesday, it was discovered that Fat Boy Brand cucumbers were also contaminated.
This is the second cucumber producer that has been connected with the Salomenella outbreak that has left 300 people ill and two people dead.
Details of the Cucumber Recall
The cucumbers involved are dark green in color, and are often called “slicer” or “American.” The cucumbers are shipped in black, green, red, or brown colored cartons.
If you possess either the Andrew and Williamson cucumbers or Fat Boy brand cucumbers, the FDA urges you to throw them away or return them to where they were purchased
Salmonella can cause serious and at times fatal infections in individuals, especially those with compromised immune systems.
When a healthy person gets infected with Salmonella, one may experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In rare event, Salmonella can enter the bloodstream causing severe illness such as arthritis, endocarditis, and aneurysm.
