Fatal Arlington Crash Results in Lane Closures

Authorities are investigating a fatal trucking accident that left one person dead in Arlington, Texas last Thursday.

Details of the Fatal Arlington Accident

According to CBS DFW, a car accident that took place at around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, killing one person on Interstate 20, near Highway 287 in Arlington, Texas.

The accident took place when the driver of the pickup truck crashed into the rear end of the semi. CBS Spokeswoman Tiara Richard noted the driver of the car died at the scene. The driver of the semi was more fortunate and received no injuries.   

Following the accident, the interstate was completely closed as authorities investigated the scene; however, two lanes were later opened.

The name of the dead driver has not been released, and investigators continue to look into what happened in the accident.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has released shocking statistics that reveal numbers of car accident deaths, injuries, and crashes.

The 2013 Texas Motor Vehicle Crash Highlights Calendar indicates:

  • 3,408 people were killed in auto accidents in 2013.
  • An additional 232,559 people were injured in auto accidents with 16,807 people suffering serious injuries.
  • A reportable crash occurred roughly every 71 seconds in 2013.
