Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Lake George, N.Y.
About the Fatal Motorcycle Accident
Authorities said the accident happened at about 11:48 a.m. near Exit 22 on the Northway in Lake George, N.Y. A motorcyclist identified as Leonid Gorodetsky, 46, was riding a 2010 Harley-Davidson when the crash occurred.
Police told reporters that a vehicle carrying family members of Gorodetsky was following behind him and had planned to exit the highway at Exit 22. Gorodetsky, who was in the left lane, passed a 2008 Freightliner tractor-trailer and was in the process of exiting the highway when he noticed his family had failed to exit. Gorodetsky then attempted to re-enter the highway from the ramp and struck the tractor-trailer in the process. He was ejected from his motorcycle.
North Warren EMS responded to the accident, but Gorodetsky died from injuries sustained in the crash while being transported to Glen Falls Hospital.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 4,957 motorcyclists killed in traffic crashes in the U.S. in 2012. An additional 93,000 motorcyclists were injured in accidents that year. Fatal motorcyclist accidents increased by seven percent from 2011 to 2012; injuries increased by 15 percent from 2011 to 2012.
