On Thursday, a man was scheduled to plead guilty to an out-of-court settlement for criminal charges after he let his unlicensed teenage daughter drive her friends from Scarsdale, New York to the Pennsylvania Poconos. The teen crashed the vehicle, killing three of her friends.

Father Takes Plea Deal

According to Reuters, Michael Ware, 54, removed his request for a trial last month. He claims to have received a plea deal from Wayne Country District Attorney Janine Edwards.

Robert Reno, Wayne’s lawyer, has not submitted any comments as of now.

Father’s Negligence Leads to Fatal Crash

Ware permitted his daughter, Julia, to take his Chevy Suburban SUV on August 30th, despite her not having a valid license. The father, daughter, and several class mates were traveling to Ware’s vacation home in the Poconos.

Julia crashed the vehicle which then rolled over. The crash killed three of her classmates, Cullen Keffer, Shamus Digney, and Ryan Lesher, all from Pennsylvania. Julia and three other teens were injured.

The parents of the teenagers that died in the crash are pressing for harsh punishments for Ware and his daughter who is now 16. District Attorney Janine Edwards claims that the parents seem to support this plea deal.

Julia Ware was sentenced as a juvenile in May to probation until the age of 21, $40,000 restitution, community service, and apology letters to the victims’ families.
