Faulty Rear Lights Cause Recall of 140,000 BMW Vehicles

German Automaker, BMW, has issued a recall for up to 140,000 of it vehicles to address a potential faulty rear light issue.The recall covers up to 134,000 and 5,800 vehicles in the United States and Canada, respectively.

Models Included in the BMW Recall

  • The faulty brakes are on BMW’s 5-serires sedans; 528i, 535i, 550i and M5 cars.
  • The sedans specifically being recalled are 2008-2010 year models.
  • The National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration expects the recall to begin in October.

Details on the BMW Tail Light Issue

  • The problems reported lie with the tail light electrical contact points.
  • Possible results are intermittent or permanent loss of one or more of the lights’ functions.
  • No accidents or injuries related to the faulty brakes have yet been reported to BMW.
