Fireworks Accident in Texas Panhandle Kills 1
A woman was killed in a fireworks accident Friday as she checked inventory for a stage show of the musical “TEXAS.”
Details of the Fireworks Accident
According to the Houston Chronicle, 21-year-old Peyton Trueblood, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was checking inventory for a Friday staging of the musical when two magazines containing fireworks exploded. Trueblood was killed in the accident.
Authorities have determined that the pyrotechnics were part of the items used in the outdoor production, which is performed at the Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Canyon, Texas. However, investigators are still unsure what caused the pyrotechnics to ignite.
The explosion resulted in a small grass fire, but no other injuries were reported.
Trueblood was an assistant stage manager for the musical production. Two shows have been canceled due to the accident
TEXAS Experiences Previous Tragedy
Friday’s incident is not the first time tragedy has struck the cast and crew of the “TEXAS” musical.
In 2013, five cast members were injured in an auto accident near Dumas, Texas. The cast members were returning from a party at a ranch in the area.
