First Meningitis Outbreak Lawsuit Filed
A Minnesota woman filed the first injury lawsuit Thursday (October 11, 2012) over tainted Methylprednisolone Acetate steroid injections from the New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts. The recalled injections have been linked to a fatal fungal meningitis outbreak which has sickened hundreds in the U.S.
Details of the Meningitis Lawsuit
- Barbe Puro received the recalled steroid injections for back pain; soon after, she began experiencing symptoms of meningitis. She is currently awaiting test results.
- The lawsuit is Barbe Puro v. New England Compounding Pharmacy Inc, U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, No.12-2605.
- Methylprednisolone Acetate injections recalled from New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts have been linked to a nationwide fungal meningitis that has sickened more than 200 and left 15 dead in several states.
