First Pradaxa Lawsuits Filed

The first three Pradaxa “failure to warn” lawsuits have been filed against the drug’s manufacturer, Boehringer Ingelheim in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee federal courts.

  • Bivens et al. vs. Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc., et al. (filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Northern Division)
  • Hawkins et al. vs. Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc., et al. (filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, London Division)

Failure to Adequately Warn of Risks

According to reports, these are the first lawsuits to claim the blood thinner Pradaxa caused injury or death to users. The claims center on the manufacturer’s failure to warn about the risk of fatal bleeding events and how to handle them.
