Five Dead in San Antonio DWI

An eight-year-old boy became the fifth and final victim of a tragic Father’s Day drunk driving accident that occurred in San Antonio, Texas last Sunday. According to reports, the family was coming back from a Father’s Day event when the father lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a parked bulldozer. He was found to be intoxicated and has been charged in the deaths of his wife and four children.

Mother and Four Children Dead

  • The 8-year-old boy was the last survivor of the accident.
  • He received serious injuries in the crash and had been placed on life support.
  • He was taken off of life support on Thursday, June 21, 2012 and died the same day.
  • The boy’s mother and 3 siblings (aged 1, 4, and 9) also died in the accident.

Driver Was Found to be Intoxicated and Speeding

  • The driver (father) had been drinking and was speeding when he crashed into the parked bulldozer.
  • He was injured in the crash and was hospitalized before being charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
  • According to reports, the boys' death marks the 13th person to be killed by a suspected intoxicated driver this year. This figure already exceeds the number of drunk driving deaths in Bexar County in all of 2011.
