An investigation into the circumstances of a fatal accident in Florida is ongoing.

Details about the Fatal Accident in Florida

Florida Today is reporting that the Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a fatal crash that happened in the overnight hours that shut down southbound lanes of Interstate 95 for several hours near the Pineda Causeway exit in Melbourne.

The accident originally happened at about 2:30 a.m. just south of mile marker 188. Due to the accident, traffic was being diverted onto the Pineda Causeway exit and onto Wickham Road and U.S. 1.

At this time it is not immediately known how long the southbound lanes of the interstate would remain closed.

 It has been reported that at least one person was killed in the accident, but other details about the accident are expected to be released shortly, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
