A small child was seriously injured in an accident that happened in Florida.

First Coast News is reporting that a 4-month-old infant was not wearing a restraint when it suffered seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident that happened on US Highway 90 on Tuesday evening, according to authorities.

The driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident, who has been identified as 22-year-old Shelly Ann Arreola, was heading south with the infant and a 3-year-old boy on County Road 137 when she lost control of the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The vehicle finally came to a rest on its roof.

The Florida Highway Patrol has stated that the 4-month-old girl was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The child was airlifted to Shands UF in Gainesville to be treated for serious injuries. The driver suffered minor injuries and has since been charged with careless driving and driving without a license.
