Florida Man Killed After Being Struck by Street Sweeper

A pedestrian was fatally injured in Florida Saturday morning when he was stuck by a street sweeper.

WFLA News in Florida is reporting that a pedestrian was killed by a street sweeper vehicle in Pasco County early Saturday morning.

The accident occurred at State Road 54 and US Highway 41 right after 2 a.m. according to Florida Highway Patrol. 48-year-old Todd L. Perrone of Land O’Lakes was attempting to cross State Road 54 at the intersection of US 41 using the pedestrian crosswalk. The street sweeper, which was being driven by 24-year-old Louis C. Yager of Brooksville, was headed east on the road with a green light.

The sweeper hit Perrone at the intersection, and the pedestrian died at the scene of the accident.

Detectives are still investigating the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
