Florida Man Killed in Clay County Accident

A Florida man was killed on Tuesday night after being involved in a multiple-vehicle accident in Clay County.

Details about the Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident

News 4 JAX is reporting that a man died in a four-vehicle accident on Tuesday evening in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

79-year-old Clemente Ainza was driving with his wife, 69-year-old Adelaida Ainza, when their Acura MDX was hit by another SUV that was attempting to merge into the northbound lanes of US 17, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Their SUV then spun out of control into the center median where it then flipped several times before hitting the front of a Chevy Tahoe and the back corner of a GMC Canyon in the southbound lanes on US 17.

The Acura vehicle landed on its roof in a ditch on the right shoulder. Clemente Ainza was killed at the scene of the accident.

Adelaida Ainza survived the accident and said her husband was a retired postal worker who served in the Navy.

Other people were injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Charges are pending regarding the accident.
