According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has suspended the operating authorities of three Chicago area moving companies.

    • Ordered to shut down for safety violations.
    • Operating authority has been suspended for holding customers’ shipments hostage.
    • Assessed civil penalties totaling in $56,300.
    • Assessed commercial penalties totaling in $2,000.
    • Company is currently not allowed to operate in interstate commerce
  • Able Moving Inc (Cicero, IL)

    • Operating authority has been suspended for holding customers’ shipments hostage.
    • Assessed civil penalties totaling in $20,000.
    • Assessed commercial penalties totaling in $2,000.
    • Company is not allowed to operate in interstate commerce.
  • Best Price Moving and Storage (Chicago, IL)

    • Ordered to shutdown for safety volations.
    • Company has been assigned a federal safety rating of ‘conditional’.
    • FMCSA will monitor safety compliances.
    • Assessed civil penalties totaling in $15,900.
    • Assessed commercial penalties totaling in $5,530.
