According to the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S.PIRG), 48 million people get sick each year from eating tainted food. The PIRG recommends that more needs to be done in order to protect Americans from unsafe food.

  • 1,446 incidences of Salmonella

  • Papaya- 25 states -106 people ill
  • Peanut Butter – 19 states – 35 people ill
  • Ground Turkey – 34 states – 136 ill – 1 death
  • Mangoes – 15 states – 121 ill
  • Raw Tuna – 29 states – 425 ill
  • Cantaloupes – 24 states – 261 ill
