Ford Pickup Truck Recall – Transmission Issue

Recently, Ford Motor Co. announced a recall affecting approximately 4,000 commercial versions of its F-Series pickup trucks due to a software error that may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly reverse and increase the risk of crashing.

Details of the Ford F-Series Recall

According to Reuters, Ford is recalling 3,976 F-Series pickup trucks with a transmission control software error that may cause the truck to reverse for 1-1/2 seconds while shifting from “park” to “drive.” Ford says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the defect. Repairs are expected to begin in early May at which time dealers will update the software at no cost to owners.

Vehicles Affected by the Transmission Recall

The recall affects the following commercial versions with a 6.2-liter gasoline or 6.7-liter diesel engine and a 6R140 transmission:

  • 2015 F-250
  • 2015 F-350
  • 2015 F-450
  • 2015 F-550
