Ford has issued a recall for roughly 850,000 vehicles due to concerns that an electrical issue could prevent airbags from deploying during collision.

About the Ford Airbag Recall

According to the Wall Street Journal, a short in the vehicles’ restraint control module can potentially disable both front and side curtain airbags, resulting in an increased risk of injury.

Ford states that the vehicles airbag warning light will illuminate should a short occur and that it is unaware of any deaths or injuries resulting from the defect.

This is the second airbag related recall to be announced this week. On Thursday, Fiat announced the recall of 350,000 vehicles with faulty ignition switches. In some cases, the defective switches could result in loss of engine power, steering, and airbag functionality.
