The former CEO of an energy company in Chesapeake was killed in a car accident.

Details about the Fatal Accident Involving the CEO

CBSDFW News is reporting that the former CEO of the Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Aubrey McClendon, was killed in a car accident on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the Oklahoma City Police.

First responders reportedly responded to the scene of the deadly accident just after 9 a.m. on North Midwest Boulevard, between East Memorial Road and North East 122nd Street. The SUV had apparently struck a bridge before bursting into flames. One person was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. It was later confirmed that the person who died at the accident was, in fact, McClendon.

Recently, McClendon was indicted by a federal grand jury the day before the accident after being accused of rigging bids for oil and natural gas leases.

The indictment from the Department of Justice indicates that the conspiracy and accusations ran from December 2007 through March 2012.

A spokesperson from the Oklahoma City Police said that they identified the vehicle as a 2013 Chevy Tahoe, which was heading north on Midwest Boulevard at a very high rate of speed when it somehow driver left of the center and slammed into the bridge.

Police are still conducting their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
