Four college students were killed and one was critically injured in an accident that happened on Wednesday evening.

Details about the Fatal Accident

Multiple sources are reporting that four students from the University of Georgia were killed and another was critically injured in an accident that happened on Wednesday, according to the Oconee County Sheriff’s department.

The department further indicated that the five students were in one of the vehicles at the time of the accident which involved two vehicles. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital, but the condition of that driver is not available at this time.

The student who was injured was taken to the Athens Regional Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.

The women who were killed were positively identified but their identities would not be released pending notification of extended family and arrival of family from out of town. The accident happened along the 3900 block of Greensboro Highway and involved two mid-sized sedans that were traveling in opposite directions when they collided just after 9 p.m.

The accident currently remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
