Maya Kammourieh2 years ago

A four-vehicle crash on Highway 281, south of Alice, Texas, leaves one dead early Monday morning.

About the Alice Accident

According to KRIS-TV, on the morning of May 18th around 5 AM, two 18-wheelers and two cars crashed on Highway 281, leaving one dead.

The Ben Bolt Fire Department stated the four-vehicle crash resulted in a blazing fire, which they attempted to battle after their arrival around 5:45 AM; they were later joined by the Alice, Premont, and San Diego Fire Departments.

The blaze was extinguished after about an hour, but not without first doing extensive damage to the highway, which is still closed in wake of the wreckage. Officers believe the fire was ignited by one of the 18-wheelers, which had flipped over the guardrail; they suspect that after the flip, something was ignited within the vehicle.

The other individuals involved in the crash have not been reported to have any life threatening injuries.  Officials are still unclear as to what caused the accident.
