Police in Georgetown are continuing their investigation into an accident that happened on Sunday afternoon.

Details about the Fatal Accident

FOX 7 Austin News is reporting that the Georgetown Police Department is continuing their investigation into a fatal accident that happened on Sunday afternoon.

Police report that the accident happened at about 12:24 p.m., when they responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident that happened on the 4100 block of Williams Drive. An initial investigation into the accident revealed that a Kia Soul vehicle was heading east on Williams Dirve when it drifted into the westbound lanes and hit an Audi SUV traveling in the opposite direction head-on.

The 42-year-old male driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and the driver of the Audi SUV was taken to the St. David’s Round Rock Hospital to be treated for his injuries sustained in the accident. An investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time, and it is uncertain as to why the driver drifted into the oncoming lanes of traffic.

The name of the victim has not been released yet, pending notification of next of kin.
