GM Shanghai Announces Buick Enclave Recall

Tina Robinson3 years ago

Shanghai General Motors has announced a recall of 2008-2013 Buick Enclaves that were imported to China by GM.

About the Chinese Buick Enclave Recall

According to a new report by Reuters, Shanghai General Motors has recalled 24,021 Buick Enclaves due to airbag defects. The recall will fix an issue with the of the side airbags that could potentially result in nondeployment.

The issue already spurred a 1.18 million vehicle recall of the mid-sized crossovers in the United States earlier this month. The recall affects the following vehicles:

  • some 2008-2009 and all 2010-2013 Buick Enclaves
  • some 2008-2009 and all 2010-2013 GMC Acadia
  • some 2009 and all 2010-2013 Chevrolet Traverse
  • some 2008-2009 and all 2010 Saturn Outlook

Two Months of Recalls for GM

In the past two months, GM has recalled more than 3.1 million vehicles globally. GM initiated a massive recall in February to fix an issue with faulty ignition switches that can easily be bumped or jostled out of the “on” position, resulting in engine power loss. At least 12 deaths have been linked to the ignition switch defect.

A second round of recalls was issued in mid-March to correct three separate issues detected after an internal GM probe was launched. The recalled Buick Enclaves in China are part of the global recall of those vehicles.
