A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Northeast Harris County.

Details about the Fatal Bicycle Accident

KHOU News is reporting that police are investigating a fatal hit and run accident that killed a bicyclist in the northeast area of Harris County on Tuesday evening.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, police received a call of a possible hit and run accident that happened about 9:15 p.m. on the 17400 block of Beaumont Highway.

According to police, when they arrived at the scene of the accident, they found an unconscious young man who had been hit by a vehicle in the middle of the roadway. Witnesses in the area report hearing tires screeching, and when they came outside, they saw a white SUV braking hard.

The witnessed did not hear the impact itself, but they did see someone get out of the vehicle, look down at the victim, get back in the vehicle and then drive away.

The victim was riding a bicycle in the middle of the roadway, and there didn’t appear to have been any forms of lighting on the bike at the time of the accident.

The bicyclist was airlifted to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
