Head-On Collision Sends Four to the Hospital

A head-on collision on in Forney, Texas Wednesday night heavily impacted the traffic and sent four individuals to the hospital.

About the Forney Crash

On Wednesday, April 29th, at approximately 8:45 p.m., a vehicle traveling westbound on the eastbound side of Highway 80 struck another vehicle head-on.

According to the initial reports, one vehicle stopped on the right shoulder and the other struck the center median about 40 feet west of the other vehicle. The traffic on the westbound side of the highway was impacted after several witnesses and drivers stopped to assist the individuals in the accident.

A CareFlite ambulance took one individual from one vehicle to the Texas Regional Medical Center in Sunnyvale, Texas. Three in the other vehicle were taken to the Lake Pointe Medical Center Emergency Room in Forney, Texas.

According to police, a third vehicle swerved off the right shoulder to avoid the accident and was able to drive away from the scene after being removed from the ditch.

  • There were 523 people killed in head-on crashes in 2013.
  • There were 65,539 serious injury crashes in Texas in 2013 with 89,270 people sustaining a serious injury.
  • Single vehicle, run-off the road crashes resulted in 1,333 deaths in 2013. This was 39.47 % of all motor vehicle traffic deaths in 2013.
  • In 2013, there were 460 people killed in crashes involving distracted driving. This is a 2.34% decrease from 2012.
